Morning one and all!
Today is a Bank Holiday Monday which means we're having a 3 day weekend. We also have a Bank Holiday the same weekend as Memorial Day. We have them in April (tagged on to Easter), two in May and two in August. So, ~ I may not get the U.S. hols but it does make up for some.
Since my last post I've had Kellan visit with his friend, George. Upon arrival Kellan discovered that he lost his passports (dual citizenship) in Heathrow airport. We spent all week calling Lost Properties but to no avail. This meant he had to leave a day early for London to get an emergency passport from the American Embassy. He and George had a fun 3 days in London and when they arrived at the airport, his passports had been found! A little too late however as he had reported them missing and they were now considered invalid. Sigh.
During the same week my cat Jingle had started displaying not so good signs of deteriation. She was walking rather wobbly and her eyes were doing wierd things. I ended up taking her to the emergency vet who administered her a shot. Because she had gone off her food the vet told me to feed her with a syringe a special food and then return in 24 hours. The next day was Kellan's 23rd birthday. I had Roger take the guys sight seeing while I stayed home with the patient. Fortunately she recovered and is back to her old senile self, bless her. At almost age 20 (!!) she is doing rather well.
Our weather has been surprisingly good compared to last year. We're just now coming off of a hot spell of 70 degrees. I know, a far cry from San Diego weather but I can't complain. The trees are now all in bloom, and we've have fantastic cherry blossoms all around (D.C. eat your heart out), along with amazing flowers. Roger has done a good job on our yards/gardens and it is starting to feel like summer. We had a bbq Saturday night, our first of the season.
We are thinking of a trip to Cornwall which is in the southwest part of England, sometime in the summer. Always wanted to go to Stone Henge and think we'll make it our first stop. Then on through Devon and into Cornwall. Nothing sorted yet but in the planning stages.
I've got to fill out my U.S. tax forms today. Being out of the country I get an extra 2 months. Just Friday we received our P60 tax form which is like our W-2. The Uk and US have complete reciprocity with taxes which means I don't get any refunds, just have to report it.
The most recent talent to come out of Britains Got Talent will give Susan Boyle a run for her money: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u3AsW0aBis. Check it out.
Until next time....
