Happy Birthday Glen.........wherever you are.

It's been brought to my attention that I don't have a link to Roger's website listed yet. So as to not keep any of you waiting further, it is: http://www.uea.ac.uk/~e419/. Quite a nice one if I do say so myself.

Right, so lot's been happening since my last post. Kellan visited for 2 weeks and the following two weeks we sunned and funned ourselves in Greece! Kellan's visit was great as it was just like it used to be back in San Diego. We'd go to work, he'd be asleep. I'd call during the day, he'd be playing video games. We'd come home, he'd be playing video games. I'd fix dinner, he'd continue playing video games. LOL He was happy to relax after having exams and if that worked for him, it worked for me.

During his stay we had a party over the May Bank holiday weekend, which cooincides with Memorial Day for all of you Stateside. My side of the relatives came for a fun and festive meal - which we ate inside due to the timely rain that always happens once the match is struck for the barbeque grill. Never the less, it was good to see everyone again. I'll post pictures later because, as usual, I don't have them available at the moment.

Kellan left the day before we were to go on vacation, so we drove him down to Gatwick and stayed over before leaving ourselves the next day. The drive down was very pretty the closer we got to the airport - I believe the area is called South Downs......rolling green hills - gorgeous! Walking into the terminal I had a revelation: I have only been to Gatwick once before and it was in 1981 - in the same terminal - and, it turns out............ on the very same date!! Yep, June 2nd, 1981 I arrived for a visit. Both Roger and Kellan could only roll their eyes with that "here she goes again" look but I think that is amazing! It's amazing that I could remember the actual date to begin with, but I always seem to have this thing with numbers, at least lately anyway. So, to continue, after we saw Kellan off, we drove to Brighton on the south coast. It was one of those amazingly rare sunny days in Britain and I got my first suntan of the season - whoda thought? Brighton is a fun place - reminds me of Misson Beach in San Diego. Lots of shops and restaurants tucked underneath the coastline road in boardwalk-style on the beach. And a pier too. I recall about 5 years ago the original one burned down and this one is the new and improved version. They still keep the burned out structure - I guess - as a memorial (?). Later in the day, we made our way to the hotel in which we were staying that night and keeping our car at for the 2 weeks we'd be gone. It's in the hills above Gatwick near a cute little village called Charlwood. The hotel itself has a grand entrance but that's where it stops. The rooms were not that great, the food so-so, but the area is lovely and the car-sitting service it provides is good. At 500am the following morning we headed to the airport and into the warmer climate of Greece. At which point I'll stop here and save that for another section.

Ta-rahhhhh,

Jill
