Good Saturday morning!
Spring is starting to arrive with the influx of daffodills, bluebells and crocus'. Ah to be in England in the spring!
Kellan has visited his cousin in Houston, Texas and has some great photos with him and a seal making friends, along with kissing giraffes! Thanks to Susan he got to experience life "behind the bars" helping out with the animals. Looks like a great time!
The student's Easter vacation at the university has begun. They get a month off, lucky sods. The university closes in two weeks for the staff's week vacation. I'm not complaining as I'd get nothing in the States! Roger and I plan a long weekend in London as opposed to going abroad - as *someone's* passport has expired, and it's not mine! Actually, it's been 3 years since our last visit so will be nice to see the sites again.
That's the scoop for now...

It's snowing!!!!! I drove to work myself this morning as the man is off today. Good choice for him, as I was slipping and sliding all over the place. Baptism by fire as they say...29 years since I last drove in snow. Dreading tonight. Still, Britain is beautiful with all the snow.

Taking down the Xmas decorations this weekend. Another year has passed. Oh - and no packages yet from Gig Harbor if you're reading this. Good ole' Royal Mail/customs.

Hey, I won £18.80 in the Euromillions lottery on Friday! Every little helps.

England is facing a lot of snowy weather this week. To look at it (in my opinion) it doesn't look that bad, but the icy roads are the culprit. A little slippy slidey on the way to work, not to mention not being able to get out of the driveway in the morning makes it all interesting.

Went to ASDA (aka Walmart) for a frozen turkey last night and they are all out! What IS this world coming too??!

All set for Santa's arrival on Friday. Just finishing up the last two days of work and then we are off for 10 days. Yeeeaaaaaaa!

Catch you all in 2010!

Happy Thanksgiving U.S.A.!!

Wish I could be there. It doesn't seem right to be working today, however I will be celebrating instead on Saturday, cooking for my neighbors. Have to show them what the holiday is all about! Tonight my office is going out for a meal so I will be celebrating in a way. If I time it right I will be eating on East Coast time.

You have probably heard that the U.K. is under seige with a lot of flooding again. This happened before in 2007 and some of the people have not been able to return to their properties since then! So I can imagine how this is not welcomed. We, on the otherhand, have been spared and have seen sunny skies and warmer temps in the East. For some reason the Gods are on our side this time. Say a prayer for those left homeless in Cumbria. This is the Lake District area of which we are so in love with.

Big news: we've replaced our kettle. The old one took a dive and we were without a one for a WHOLE WEEK - major disaster for an Englishman. So we managed by boiling water in a pot on the stove. The microwave left it all foamy and yukky for some reason. Strange as I used to heat my coffee water in the micro in SD. Guess the British side of me has officially emerged.

Well, while all of you are eating your turkey, potatoes, Green Bean casserole, pumpkin and apple pies, think of poor little ole' me slaving away at work.

WAHHHHHHHHHHH!

Steven's Pass, Washington, above.
Roger's first pumpkin!

Mary praying to The Great Pumpkin

Lunch at The Tides restaurant on our last day.
*********************************
It's raining in old' Blighty. Go figure. I love it though - it rained hard for several hours last night and this morning everything is emerald green....and the trees that make up our hedge are taller!
We've just returned from a trip to the States. I went to San Diego first and stayed with Kellan, his roommate and two wacky cats called Oreo and Delila....who really know how to entertain. Who needs t.v.? Had a great week visiting friends and soaking up the sunshine. Kellan and I then flew up to Seattle the following week and met Roger there. We stayed with my brother and his wife where Roger experienced his first Halloween party, even carving his first pumpkin! We were able to visit with my mom as well during the week. We took some great days out to the mountains and also over to the Columbia river area. The weather was dry and the autumn was simply glorious!!
Back to England now and settling down for the season, like bears. I plan to cook my first Thanksgiving dinner over here for neighbors and then it's full steam ahead into Christmas. I especially like this time of year in the U.K. - lots of parties and pub crawling....gota love it!
