Hello Campers,

I'm typing this on my new lap top which I got for Christmas! Takes a bit getting used to but it's nice to "have lap top will travel". I'm part of the in-crowd now, ha.

This week has seen c-c-cold temps in England. However, it is equivalent to the 20's F. which, if you've lived in Colorado and Alaska like I have, is nothing. Except coming from California as I have also done, it can be a shock to the system. I had to scrape the windshield the other day for the first time in - what? - 27 years!! Roger has been home with a nasty cold and sore throat for the past week or so. He had it over the holidays and I must be lucky as I haven't (knock on wood) caught it.

The other gift that Santa brought Roger was a Wii game. We've had fun playing tennis, baseball, laser tag, racing game, brain academy etc. I even had a side ache from playing so much.

I have a work collegue who has come down with Guillain Barre' syndrom. It is a paralizing virus that only hits 1 in 100,000. This is the 2nd time it has hit her. The first time she was unable to walk and took 3 months to heal. The doctors thought it was stress. There is no known cause for it and no real cure as such. Typically the symptoms get worse until the 3rd week at which point the person seems to get better gradually. This time however, it has hit Ann worse and her whole being is paralized except one side of her face. She can't speak. She has a trach to breath and can only communicate by blinking her eyes. It was like one day she was fine and the next completely paralized. I feel so terrible knowing that it's been a month and her life has consisted of just existing in her own solitary world, alone with her thoughts. The hospital won't allow visiters due to a bug that has been circulating and so her family hasn't been able to see her for all this time apart from an hour or two. If you feel so inclined, please keep Ann in your prayers. Thank you.

That's it for now. I hear some chocolate calling my name.

Jill
