We had a lovely long weekend in the Lake District! The scenery is absolutely stunning! I endeavor to upload some photos (of 452 taken!). We had a fab b&b in Windermere - perfect location, room, breakfasts and hosts. The area is what we Americans think of when we think of England - lush rolling green (extremely!) hills, trees and stone walls from the mid evil ages. We visited a stone circle that dates back to 2500 - 3000 B.C.!! Unfortunately, the visitors think it's their right to stand on the stones in order to take better pictures. I fear it will one day end up like Stone Henge, being roped off to the public. We had borrowed a satnav from a friend and came to know the lady's voice, often referring to her as "she". How sad is that?! "She" took us down the most amazing roads (obviously "She" was incorrect in some of her navigation skills) but it proved to be very interesting. We hope to get one for ourselves with John Clease's voice (Monty Python and Faulty Tower fame). The area was very different as when we went over mountain passes, it was incredibly vast and smooth like to look at. All in all, just a fabulous time!
